Privacy Policy

One Quiet Conversation is designed to collect as little identifying information as practical.

What the site does not require

You do not need to provide a name, email address, phone number or account to start a conversation.

What is stored

The service stores the messages you choose to send, a randomly generated conversation token, conversation status and technical timestamps needed to operate the service. If you voluntarily include identifying information inside a message, that information becomes part of the conversation content.

Your private conversation token

Your browser stores the token locally so the same device can offer a way back to your conversation. The private link places the token in the URL fragment after the #, which browsers do not send to the server as part of the page request. Anyone who obtains the private link can access the conversation, so keep it private.

Optional browser notifications

If you choose to enable notifications, the browser provides a push subscription endpoint and cryptographic keys. They are stored only to deliver a generic notification when a reply is waiting. The notification does not contain the conversation text. No email address or phone number is needed.

Tracking and advertising

The private conversation pages do not require third-party advertising or analytics trackers. Personal information is not sold for advertising.

Retention

Closed conversations are automatically eligible for deletion after the configured retention period. The default in this build is 90 days after the conversation is closed. Deleted conversations and associated push subscriptions are removed from the application database.

Security

Traffic is served over HTTPS. Access to the admin interface is restricted. Private conversation and admin pages are marked noindex and are excluded from the public sitemap.

No internet service can promise absolute security. Avoid sending passwords, banking credentials or other secrets that are not necessary for the conversation.

Emergency situations

This website is not an emergency or crisis service. If there is immediate danger, use appropriate local emergency or crisis services.
